OVERVIEW OF SOME OF THE SERVICES AVAILABLE
Events safety consultancy and general health and safety consultancy
I provide a safety consultancy services to suit most busniess requirements. My area of specialism though is live events. My services can cover all legal requirements such as health, safety and welfare policies, risk assessments, health and safety audits, assessments of training needs, fire risk assessments and access audits.
My events specialist services include all meetings, liaison with statutory bodies and production of safety documents:- (including risk assessments, emergency procedures, event management overview, de-brief reports etc.) I will review and collate you contractors documents as well as set their safety standards and ensure that their work is signed off as being safe and suitable for purpose. I will provide a full attendance on site to cover safety officer requirements and act as your contact with contractors, the venue and various licensing officers as is necessary.
Health and safety at work training
I am able to assist you to enable you to train your staff to work more safely and for you to comply with your legal requirements to ensure that your staff are competent to undertake their work safely. I am able to offer both formally recognised qualifications (level 2, Chartered Instutute of Environmental Health, a nationally recognised course) or training to good levels of competence if a less structured approach is preferred by the client. I am able to provide either general health and safety training or focused towards live events.
Conflict management training
I am also able to deliver bespoke training for staff who might have to deal with difficult situations which might lead to unacceptable conflict. Not only is this is a nationally recognised (CIEH), level 2 course which is intended to help to comply with your legal requirements to help your staff to work safely. It will enable your staff to work avoid conflict, deliver a better quality of service and to be less likely to suffer stress related conditions
Both courses can be brought to you (if you have a training room or other suitable facility) or to a place nearby to help minimise disruption or travel to your staff.Audits of management systems and venues.
As you probably know, there is a need for various administration and other arrangements, to be in accord with the laws which require health and safety management systems. These include training of staff, keeping of records, writing of policies, fire risk assessments and so-on. I am able to undertake an independant audit on your behalf of health and safety administration, work activities and perform an assessment of your work-place external and internal features. This will include public areas, multi-use areas and 'back stage'. I can consider all aspects of safety such as fire safety, escapes, signs, welfare provisions, construction work and emergency plans.
I will review/produce meaningful documentation to enable you to manage safety, health and welfare in the long term, well after the audit has been completed.
Access Considerations
All events should be fully accessible and visitors should share an equally enjoyable experience. Advice on accessibilility is a standard service though detailed audits can be unertaken upon request.
Statement of competence
Examples of venues (since summer 2005 to keep things brief) at which I been safety officer/consultant include, Royal Albert Hall, G-mex, Earls Court, Olympia, Trafalgar Square, NEC, Baltic Square, Newcastle, as well as many other lesser known ones. My clients have included event promoters, councils, commercial trading companies, charities etc. Recent clients include, for example; Manchester City Council, Ronin Events Services, Mulberry Event Consultants, Woolworths, Arts Council England,Manchester & Salford Universities, Designscene UK, EA Projects, Manchester Enterprises. Other well known organisations I have worked indirectly for include, Marks and Spencer, Asda, MOBO awards, MTV and Guildfest. I have recently undertaken a full health, safety and welfare audit of a local theatre.
